Our vision knows no bounds in creating cultural and leisure legacies for the future, in reinventing historical assets and in delivering new communities which thrive in, take meaning from and, indeed give back to, the rivers, seas and lakes of our world.

Our designs respect the character of the surrounding area and the local architectural vernacular while integrating key environmental features, such as Passivhaus and energy self-sufficiency. Above all, we allow the blue landscape through, safely and for the enjoyment of residents, delivering value and longevity to our clients’ properties.

We are a practice based research company. We collaborate with academics, engineers and politicians to advance our understanding and affect change in the field of architecture and the built environment. The ranges across three core areas: enable, design and build, flood resilient homes and communities..

Baca’s journey continues in the pursuit of flood resilience, with ongoing dedication to crafting homes that withstand nature’s challenges. Richard continues lobbying at government round tables and works with the insurance sector, pushing for the integration of flood resilience into building regulations.

The practice continues to champion our research led ethos to advance safe, resilient, welcoming places to live and work – in, on, near and under water. Leading from the front through research and built examples, we envisage large communities that are holistically planned to be better prepared for flooding and climate change..

The long-term goal is to design communities that function as normal, preserving continuity of daily life during both droughts and floods. Our intention, through our research and built work is that we can demonstrate that the future is already here.
