Baca's LifE philosophy at the CIOB

Vision Event, London 2-3 June 2015 – Amphibious And Flood-Resilient Homes Workshop

Last night Baca presented its work to an audience at the CIOB Construction Forum and Employees Federation.

Baca director Richard Coutts presented to a panel including the Treasury Minister, the Hon Eddie Teare, the Dept of Economic Development Minister, the Hon John Shimmin, Marian Kenny, News Editor at Manx Radio, Les Nichol, President of the Employer’s Federation and Tony Wood, Chair of the CIOB IOM Centre.

The office’s work on flood master planning in Paris, innovative amphibious projects, and design responses to the constraints of working with local authority housing projects were all presented. Discussion turned to the implementation of Baca’s ‘Long-term Initiatives for Flood-risk Environments’ (LifE) philosophy in Norwich where Baca are establishing new flood safe communities after advanced research into Climate Adaptive Neighbourhoods, supported by the Technology Strategy Board.

The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) partners with other professional organisations to offer a wide range of events to members of the construction industry. It supports those that it feels will inform, challenge, promote knowledge sharing and aid continuing professional development.
